Considering a Career in Healthcare?

Training Support from CareerPoint Leads to Jobs in Nursing

With training support from CareerPoint Mendocino, 14 people recently received a licensed  as a vocation nurse.

The Ukiah Adult School, which is part of the Ukiah Unified School District, offers the Vocational Nursing Program as a public service. The three-semester program takes 54 weeks to complete (with a three month summer break). Upon successful completion of the course, graduates receive a certificate of completion and are eligible to take the National Council Licensure Examination for Vocational Nurses. A Licensed Vocational Nurse gives total bedside nursing care, assisting the patient who is being cared for in the hospital, home, skilled nursing facility, doctor’s office, or other out-patient facilities. When assigned, the LVN may also give medications and treatments.

“I am very proud of our graduates and all of the hard work they put in to succeed. This is not an easy accomplishment given the rigor of our program and the complexity of our modern lives. Our community is fortunate to have amazing nurses like these who dedicate their lives to helping those that need it most,” commented Christy Pedroncelli Smith, Principal of the Ukiah Adult School and Workforce Alliance of the North Bay Advisory Board Member.
